HOW CAN I GET A LIBRARY CARD?

Library cards are available to anyone who lives in Boonton with valid identification showing his or her name and address.  Valid identification may be a driver’s license, bank statement, utility bill, lease, rent or tax receipt which must be presented at the time of registration.  Library cards are good for 1 years. You can use your library card to borrow from most Morris County public libraries.

Children (up to age eighteen) who can sign their full name may get a library card but are required to have their parent or guardian sign the application at the library and show the type of identification outlined above.

If you work in Boonton but live in another town, please apply for a library card in your hometown.  If your hometown library is a member of the M.A.I.N. consortium (most libraries in Morris County are members), then you may use your hometown library card at the Boonton Library.

Any interested individual or family who lives in Boonton Twp. is eligible to purchase an out-of-town paid membership.  The annual rate is $165.00 for privileges throughout all of Morris County.  These cards are valid for 1 year.

For more details on borrowing, call the library.

CAN BOOKS BE RENEWED?

Books, Books on Tape and Books on CD may be renewed for one additional loan period, if they have not been reserved by another patron.

Renewals of Boonton Public Library books can be done by phone.  Please have the book or audio materials handy so you can tell us the bar code number.  This number identifies the item.  In a book it is usually found inside the front cover.  For other materials, look inside the case or on the cover.  The number on all items begins with 01001…. (To renew books from libraries other than the Boonton Public Library, please call that library directly.)

WHAT IF A BOOK ISN’T ON THE SHELF?

If the book you want is checked out, you may place a “hold” for a copy of that book.  When the book becomes available the library will call you.  You will have 5 days to pick up the book.  You may reserve a book in person at the library, by phone or online through the library web catalog.

If the Boonton Holmes Library does not own the book or other material you would like to borrow, it can be requested through Interlibrary Loan.  These items can also be requested online through the library web catalog.

Reserves and interlibrary loans are limited to Boonton card holders only.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE A BOOK?

When a book or other library material is lost or damaged beyond repair, you will be charged the replacement cost.  Replacement copies purchased by you will not be accepted.
