October 23, 2013: Historic Preservation Plaque Presentation

The Boonton Holmes Public Library will be recognized by the County Freeholders at their October 23 meeting!

The Freeholders have assisted the Town of Boonton preserve the Boonton Holmes Public Library through a series of historic preservation grants totaling approximately $636,800. The first phase of grant funding allowed for the porch stabilization project. The second phase will include interior work on the floor and support structures. At the October meeting the Freeholders will be presenting a plaque which will be permanently displayed at the library. The meeting will begin at 8pm and will be held at Boonton Town Hall.

Thank you Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders / Morris County Historic Preservation Trust Fund for supporting the Boonton Holmes Public Library!

Storytime Returns!

A reminder that storytimes will begin again this week.

Regular storytime hours are Tuesdays from 11-11:30, and Wednesdays from 10:30-11:00 in the Children’s section. We welcome children ages 2 to 5 to listen to stories, participate in sing-alongs and make special crafts that focus on a different theme each week.

It’s time again for M.A.I.N.’s Passport to Imagination Program!

How the contest works: You must first obtain a M.A.I.N. “passport” from your home library. Next, visit five other M.A.I.N. libraries. At each library you will receive a stamp in your passport. Library card holders who complete this series of library visits will be entered into a contest to win an Apple iPad, Google Nexus 7 or Kindle Paperwhite.

The contest begins September 1, 2024 and runs through September 30, 2013.

Additionally, check out the Captain MAINia interlibrary scavenger hunt. This program is open to all Passport to Imagination players under ten years old. If they are able to find Captain MAINia’s hot air balloon in the Children’s Room of each of the libraries they visit, they will be eligible for extra prizes!

Prizes will be awarded at a county-wide Passport drawing at the Morris County Library in October. Visit the library for more details.

Have fun and good luck in your travels!
