Weekly Programs for Adults

Adult Book Group

If you love to read and talk about what you’ve read, this one is for YOU!

Our nest meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 25, 7:00 p.m.

The selected title is The Color of Water: A Black Man’s Tribute to His White Mother by James McBride.

“Who is Ruth McBride Jordan? A self-declared “light-skinned” woman evasive about her ethnicity, yet steadfast in her love for her twelve black children. James McBride, journalist, musician, and son, explores his mother’s past, as well as his own upbringing and heritage, in a poignant and powerful debut.”  From Amazon.com.

We are happy to reserve copies of the book for anyone interested.  Refreshments will be served.

Boonton Area Fiber Arts Club

Bring your knitting, crochet project, sewing to the library and meet the group!  Any level of skill is welcome.  Refreshments served, too!

Friday Mornings @ Holmes U

We’re thrilled to introduce a brand-new series of fun, educational workshops for adults.  The series are conceived as a venue for adult patrons to come together for a couple of hours of socializing, light-hearted fun, and educational activities led by experts in their field.

Each session starts at 10:30 a.m. with an hour of games — cards and mah jongg for starters.  Games are a great way to socialize and help keep your brain nimble.  Game hour is followed by an hour of lecture or interactive activity accompanied by a light luncheon.  The sessions conclude at 12:30 p.m.

Registration is required — no walk-ins, please — as space is limited (and we want to know how many sandwiches to order!).  Please click on the link(s) below to register, or call the library desk at 973-334-2980 to.  Be sure to leave your phone number or e-mail so we can contact you in case of any changes.

Mah Jongg Club

Studies have shown that social games foster memory, brain agility and are great avenues for socializing.  What’s not to like about that?

Our weekly Mah Jongg Club meets Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  All levels are welcome.  New to this ancient Chinese game?  No worries — we will teach you.  No registration required, but if you would like to join the club’s e-mail list, please let us know & we’ll keep you updated.   Refreshments served.

Yoga for Absolute Beginners

Our very own Laura Krauss, Boonton History Maven/Circulation Desk Expert and now Certified Yoga Instructor, teaches Yoga for Absolute Beginners.

If you have ever wondered about this ancient health practice but felt shy about donning yoga pants and checking out a professional yoga studio, this class is right for you.  Laura teaches basic poses and practices so that you’ll feel comfortable joining any yoga class.

No registration required but space is limited, so we ask that you show up punctually.  We reserve the right to deny access to latecomers and if the class is full.
